Wonga Wetlands

Wonga Wetlands is an ecosystem of lagoons and billabongs covering around 80 hectares. It is a haven for wildlife and a mecca for bird watchers, photographers, bush walkers and families. It includes a visitors centre, aquatic environment education centre, working indigenous campsite, plus picnic and barbeque facilities. 154 identified bird species and diverse fauna make their home here.

Things to Do

Lake Hume

Lake Hume is a popular tourist attraction with things to see and do all year round. Activities include boating, fishing, sightseeing, and a rail trail. The impressive dam wall complete with hydro-electric power station was when originally completed in 1936 the biggest dam in the southern hemisphere. Lake Hume is also home of a number of historic sites, including the Bonegilla Migrant Centre.
